Sampling Itinerary Day by Day

Day 1 Guiyang Arrival (L)

Upon your arrival in Guiyang, you will be met by your tour guide and be escorted to hotel for check in.

After a short break, you will visit Qingyan Ancient Town, which is just 30 km south of Guiyang city. It is one of the most famous attractions, which is rich in culture and history. You can explore the ancient heritages that dating back to the year of 1378. 

Day 2 Huangguoshu Waterfall (B, L)

After breakfast, drive about 2.5 hours to Anshun for today’s trip to Huangguoshu Waterfall, which is the largest waterfall in Asia with 74 meters high and 81 meters wide. You will appreciate different views of the waterfall, especially go behind the waterfall and see how water starts dropping and touch the waterfall.

After lunch, you will visit the Tunbao Village in Tianlong. The culture of Tunbao (Tun Bu) is unique and traditional, such as the special traditional clothes, which are designed respectively from head to foot, and Di Xi, a kind of drama that performers should wear masks and hold the stage property for performing. 

Note: From October 20, 2014 to May of 2015, the Tunbao Village is closed for construction, so during this time, you’ll visit the nearby Tiantai Mountain instead.

Tiantai Mountain: A great place to have a bird view of Tunbao Village. Walking along the path from the south side with various unpolluted plants along the way, you will marveled how those pavilions, pagodas, temples can be built in such small area. Besides, you have chance to enjoy some tablets with ancient Chinese poems.

 

After today’s tour, drive back to Guiyang city.

Day 3 Kaili (B, L)

After breakfast, you will take a two and a half hours’ drive to Kaili, the capital city of the Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture of Southeast Guizhou.

Upon your arriving, first visit Kaili Ethnic Minority Museum, where you can get a general idea of the Miao and the Dong in this region.

Then visit Qingman Village, where the women wear a kind of traditional short-skirt. In a local household, you may see the traditional way of dying cotton material.

The last stop of today is Shiqiao Miao Village, where you will not experience the Miao’s culture, but also see the traditional way of making paper from the bark of mulberry tree.

After tour, driven back to Kaili.

Day 4 Kaili (B, L)

Today you will continue to explore the real life of the Miao around Kaili.

The first stop is Xijiang Miao Village, the largest Miao village in Asia, with more than 1000 Miao households. While walking on the paths, you will appreciate an amazing view of the river valley with terraced fields, and intricate wooden houses. Women in the village still dress up in lots of ornamental silver jewelry.

After lunch, move on to Datang short-skirt Miao Village, where another branch of Miao live for hundreds years. Which makes this village special is the unique ‘miniskirts’, as short as 10 centimeters, that the local women wear all year round. You will also see the unique waterproof granaries there.

After visit, been transferred back to Kaili.

Day 5 Gulong Lusheng Festival (B, L)

Today you’ll drive about 2hours to Gulong village to attend the Lusheng Festival, one of the biggest festivals in Guizhou with more than 400 years history. You will not enjoy the stirring sounds of massed Lusheng instruments, but also enjoy kinds of festival activities, such as dancing, singing, watching bull-fights, bird-fights and horse races with the locals.

After tour, be escorted back to Kaili.

Day 6 Back to Guiyang & Departure (B)
