Qianling Park is known for the wild monkeys and other birds, with 1.5 km away Guiyang downtown. Named after the Qianling Mountain - the First Mountain in Guizhou province, it has over 426 hectares. With beautiful mountain and clean water, this park is a great escape from the crowds and city noise. What’s more, there are some lovely paths in the park that are up to the Hongfu Temple, one of the most famous Buddhism temples in Guizhou. Built in 1672, this temple preserved many Buddhist heritages and a peaceful place to purify soul and make wishes.

No.2: Qingyan Ancient Town

Type: Historic Site

Location: Qingyan Town, Huaxi District, Guiyang City (about 27.6km away from Guiyang City)

Opening Time: 8:10 - 18:40 (April - October); 8:30 - 15:00 (November - next March)

With 29 km away from Guiyang downtown, Qingyan Ancient Town was a military town built in over 600 years ago. There are over 37 historic sites, including temples, shrines, pavilions, caves and other old buildings in Ming and Qing dynasties are made of stone. Some of them are carved with lion and other Chinese features. Stepping on the long flagstone walkway, you can get to know architectural feature in past time and join in natural folk atmosphere of Miao and Dong people by visiting their houses nearby.

No.3: Jiaxiu Tower

Type: Historic Site, Landmarks

Location: No.8 Cuiwei Alley, Nanming District, Guiyang (less than 1km away from Guiyang City)

Jiaxiu Tower is the symbol of Guiyang city with 20-meter-high, three-floor structure of its sharped pointed roof. Having white stone parapets, it makes an interesting contrast of the traditional tower with surrounding modern buildings. As a Chinese typical tower built in Ming dynasty, nearby the water and connected by bridges to each bank, Jiaxiu Tower is a good place to enjoy the surrounding scenery, especially for an after-dinner walk when the lights turn on at night.

No.4: Huaxi Scenic Resort

No.5: Tianhe Lake

Karst Caves, waterfalls, doline, clear lakes...Tianhe Lake Scenic Area can be seen as the concentration of Guizhou’s natural landscapes. Cave in Tianhe Tan can be divided into two parts: the water cave and the dry cave. Take a boat and enter into the water cave, explore the wonder of natural cave, the boatman will give you a brief introduction of stalactites. Several minutes later, you will reach the small sinkhole with deep green pools of water and the sun would show itself again. Get off the boat and start the 1,800-meter dry cave hiking. Wolong Waterfall is another star scenic spot in Tianhe Lake Scenic Area, also a favored wedding photography spot for Guiyang People.

No.6: Guizhou Provincial Museum

With a floor area of more than 45,000 square meters, Guizhou Provincial Museum is quite imposing and unique in shape, even in the high-rise buildings of Guiyang Financial Exhibition Area, the building is still conspicuous. There are three permanent exhibition hall in the Museum, which are Ethnic Guizhou Exhibition Hall, Paleontological Kingdom Exhibition Hall and Historical Guizhou Exhibition Hall. After enrich yourself with local ethnic culture and history, walk out of the entrance gate, rest a while and overlook the city at the platform. You will have a strong sense of feeling of being pulled back to the modern society.

With a total construction area is 35191.78㎡, Guizhou Province Nationality Museum has 24 layers on the ground and1 layer underground, about 99.9m high. This building absorbs the charm of the contour curve of drum tower in Dong Villages. It is a tri-fork arc blocking type building, with the statue of Chairman Mao setting in front of the front arc. All six sides of the building together form a shape of "mountain”. The architectural modeling emphasizes the connotation of Guizhou, nationality and culture, showing the regional and ethnic color of Guizhou. Museum collections mainly includes the traditional dress, silver, masks, production and living supplies, ethnic ancient books of the ethnic minorities in southwest China, especially 17 indigenous ethnic minority in Guizhou (including Miao, Buyi, Dong Tujia, Yi, Shui Minority, etc.).

With the astonishing Grand Canyon scenery, typical types of multifarious waterfalls and surrounding exquisite, Nanjiang Grand Canyon is well-known and worthwhile to pay a visit. The length of the valley is more than 40 kilometers, with steep peaks stretch towards the sky and the deepest of the canyon can reach to 398km. The results of scientific investigation by experts show that the Nanjiang Grand Canyon is a typical low-middle mountain canyon landscape with immemorial stratum and deep valleys, which is very magnificent and extraordinary.

There are more than 80 natural sites and over 40 waterfalls of various shapes in the canyon. The park has already developed a scenic area of 18.4 kilometers. Tourists can take a thrilling ride along the jasper river, walk along the cliff plank road, shady path, or conquer the primeval forest. Watch macaques, hiding on the cliffs, climbing and playing. mandarin ducks are swimming in the river, fish can be seen in flocks, ospreys, egrets are flying on the river, what a delight!

After visiting the Nanjiang Grand Canyon, if you still yearn for more beautiful sceneries of the crystal clear water, you can go 10km up and immerse in the extraordinary Ten-mile Gallery along the Qinglong River. The upper reaches of the Nanjiang River, the Qinglong River, shows a different look here. The river flows gently through a wide valley with fertile land and quiet ancient Buyi villages on banks. Spring, when rape flowers bloom, is the best time to pay a visit here. Other times, you can hike 2km from Maitou Village (马头寨) to Shuitou Village (水头寨). While on the road, you will have a chance to appreciate the ancient dwellings, temples and opera stage in local villages.

Visit Aha Lake National Wetland Park will save you 40 minutes’ drive to Huaxi Wetland but show you the similar nature splendor. The park used to be known as the Xiaoche River City Wetland Park. Aside from the Lhasa River in Tibet, it claims to be the only urban river in Chinese capitals that remains largely uncontaminated. Now the scale of the park is expanding, the Fengyu Bridge, the Cherry Blossom Forest and the embellishment of waterscapes are all make this park more complete.
