China Airlines should have current Air Operator Certificate and be issued by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). There are many airlines in China, and some airlines offer international and domestic routes, and some other offer domestic routes, some are cargo airlines. 1. Flight Booking, Changing / Canceling Tips
Book Flight: China Discovery provides flight booking service that you can feel free to book tickets with us. If you want to book the flights on your own, you’d better check fares early and often. We recommend that you start checking fares as soon as you know you’ll be flying. Then, you should check frequently to get a sense of what’s a good deal and buy at the right time.
Change Flight: If you would like to change the flight route, the date of the flight or the class of service, please contact your travel consultants/flight booking office/airlines as soon as possible. Whether you need to charge change fee or not, how much you need to charge are based on several conditions - the airlines you take, the classes of your seats, ticket with discount or not, when the change processed. For example, if you take an economy class with Air China, it will be free charges if the change is processed at least 4 hours prior to departure and 5% of fare charge if the change is processed within 4 hours of departure or after departure. If you take 10%-45% discount on Economy Class with Air China, you may need to pay 10% of fare charge if the change is processed at least 4 hours prior to departure and 20% of fare charge if the change is processed within 4 hours of departure or after departure.
Cancel Flight: If you want to cancel the flight, cancellation fee is charged. The charged fee is based on which airlines you take, the classes of seats, tickets with discount or not and when the cancellation processed. For example, if you take economy class with Air China, 5% of fare charge if the cancellation is processed at least 4 hours prior to departure and 10% of fare charge if the cancellation is processed within 4 hours or after departure. If you take 10%-45% discount on economy class ticket with Air China, 20% of fare charge if the cancellation is processed at least 4 hours prior to departure and 30% of fare charge if the cancellation is processed within 4 hours or after departure.
2. Special Passengers
Infant: Infants are older than 14 days and under 2 years old. An infant ticket is 10% of adult fare. If you want a separate seat for your infant, you need to pay the child rate. If one adult travel along with two infants, one of the infants should purchase the child fare ticket for occupied seat. You can reserve a cradle for your infant free of change by contacting the airlines up to 72 hours before your flight. Infant meals can also be requested.
Kid/Child: Child passengers is referred to children who are 2 years old or over and under 12 years old. They shall purchase the child fare ticket and must be accompany by adults. Passengers who are over 12 years old must purchase adult fare ticket.
Pregnant Woman: Women who are under 32 weeks pregnant can travel as a regular passenger unless they are advised by a doctor not to travel. Women who are over 32 weeks and under 35 weeks pregnant, require a medical certificate that is issued within 7 days prior to departure. Air China does not allow women on flights in the following circumstances: over 35 weeks pregnant; within 4 weeks of delivery; less than 7 days after delivery.
Passengers with Disabilities: Please let us know 72 hours in advance that the airlines can better accommodate any special needs you may have. If you want a wheelchair, please let the airlines know 72 hours before departure.
3. Check-in Procedures
Passengers should arrive at the airport within the required time limit. Please bring your valid passport, necessary visas and other valid travel documents that you used during the purchase of your ticket. Be sure to complete all check-in and exit requirements in advance.
4. Domestic and International Departure
Domestic Departure
Passengers taking China domestic flights should arrive at the airport at least 2 hours in advance. Most of the Chinese airlines stop the check-in procedures 30 to 45 minutes before the scheduled departure time of the plane.
International Departure
The check-in procedures for international departure are usually stopped 40 to 60 minutes before the scheduled departure time. In addition, passengers may be required to provide more certificates and documents. Passengers are recommended to reach the airport 3 hours in advance.
5. Luggage Regulations
Passengers holding adult-fare or child-fare tickets are entitled to a free baggage allowance of 40 kilograms for First Class passengers, 30 kilograms for Business Class passengers and 20 kilograms for Economy Class passengers. Each piece shall not exceed the maximum dimensions of 100 centimeters (long) x 60 centimeters (wide) x 40 centimeters (high). Passengers holding adult-fare or child-fare tickets are entitled to a free checked baggage allowance of 20 kilograms for Economy Class passengers. Each piece shall not exceed the maximum dimensions of 100 centimeters (long) x 60 centimeters (wide) x 40 centimeters (high).
All unchecked baggage must fit under the seat in front of the passenger or in the overhead compartment.
- ● First and Business Class passengers are allowed up to two pieces of carry-on baggage that do not exceed 8 kg in total.
- ● Economy Class passengers are allowed one piece of carry-on baggage that does not exceed 5 kg.
- ● Each piece of carry-on baggage should not exceed 5 kg in weight and dimensions of 55 cm in length, 40 cm in width and 20 cm in height.
Baggage exceeding the weight, piece and dimension allowances will be checked in.
