No.2: Fengdu Ghost City

Located on the north bank of the Yangtze River, 107 miles away from Chongqing, Fengdu is an ancient city with time-honored history, known as the “Ghost City” to most Chinese people.

It is famous for the combinations of the cultures of Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism with the mystique of ghosts. Legend says that over 2,000 thousand years ago, two officials named Yin and Wang ( the combination of their surnames means ‘King of Hell’ in Chinese) studied Taoism on the Mingshan Hill and eventually became immortals. No.3: Shibaozhai Pagoda

Shibaozhai Pagoda, a pearl on the Yangtze, is an 18th century temple built in Zhongxian County on the northern bank of Yangtze River, 278 kilometers away from Chongqing. With 56-meter high, this tower has 12 floor and become one of the eight most oddity designed structures in the world due to the tower’s extraordinary design. It is an architectural delight, having been built without nails.

Now the whole Shibaozhai looks like a giant bonsai landscape from afar because it is environed by water due to the completion of the second phase of the key water control project at the Three Gorges on the Yangtze River. No.4: Lesser Three Gorges (Little Three Gorges)

An ancient Chinese saying claims that “the Lesser Three Gorges of the Daning River are not as beautiful as the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River, they are more beautiful”. Lesser Three Gorges, also Little Three Gorges, considered by many as the true pearl of the Three Gorges Area.

Occupying an area of 3000 acres and next to Wu Gorge, Lesser Three Gorges is situated a 50 kilometers stretch of the lower reaches of the Daning River, which is one of the tributaries of the Yangtze River. No.5: White Emperor City

White Emperor City is a favored shore excursion site for Yangtze River Cruise, Located in Fengjie, Chongqing which was built by Gongsun Shu in the late East Han Dynasty. Gongsun Shu named himself as White Emperor, thus the city was also called White Emperor City. White Emperor Temple has a series of cultural and historical relics shown to all visitors. It’s a wonderful place to enjoy the view of Kui Gate and Qutang Gorge. Due to the precipitous topography, White Emperor City had always been a place of great military importance.
