Mount Emei is a mountain with striking natural scenery and Buddhist significance. Its cultural fragrance can be savored all the year around, but it takes on its most bright natural appearance in winter when you can not only feast on the snow-wrapped world with splendid scene but also have entertainment in the snow resort.
This 3 days winter tour offers you an amazing holiday in Emei Mountain. Starting from Chengdu, you will drive to Mount Emei with an awe-inspiring stop to see world’s largest Buddha statue – Leshan Giant Buddha. Then there comes the highlights of the whole trip, relaxing hot spring experience, happy snow activities, old Buddhist temples, far-reaching views of surrounding mountains, etc. Using the cable car to ascend and descend the mountain allows you to have enough time for sightseeing and snow fun.
Warm Tip: The snow period of Mount Emei usually ranges from November to Late March, and Emeishan Ski Resort always opend during December ~ Late March, please plan your winter holiday accordingly.
Day 1 Chengdu - Leshan - Mount Emei (L)
Today's highlights: Leshan Giant Buddha, Baoguo Temple, Hot Spring
In the morning, you will be picked up at your hotel, then be driven about 2 hours from Chengdu to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site - Leshan Giant Buddha which is the largest and tallest stone-carved statue of Buddha in the world. It was carved during AD713~803 on a mountain rock cliff by the river, with its head reaching to the mountain top and its feet standing next to the river. The total height is 71m; while the head is 14.7m high and 10 meters wide, ear is 7meters high, 28 meters between knees and insteps. Its insteps can hold over a hundred people. You may be wondering why such a giant Buddha was built? It is said to have been built to calm the turbulent waters that plagued passing boats and killed many people each year in ancient time. On the right cliff of the Giant Buddha, there is a plank road built along with the Giant Buddha. From the top to foot, the plank road has nine turns, thus it’s called Nine Bends Plank Road. The widest part of the road is 1.45m and the narrowest part is only 0.6m, and there are 217 stone steps in total. You will walk down to the feet of the Giant Buddha for a closer view.
After the Giant Buddha visit, drive about a half hour to Baoguo Temple, the biggest temple of Mount Emei at the mountain foot. It has several serene gardens with rare plants, a library of sutras and a huge porcelain Buddha. Another famous historical relic in the temple is the 25-ton bronze Bell, reputedly as the second largest bell in China. While traveling deeper into the temple, you will enjoy different views of Mount Emei.
After Baoguo Temple visit, you will drive to check in your hotel and be ready for a Hot Spring experience to relax your body.
Hot spring tips: ① Do not bathe in the hot water for too long; ② Don't go to the hot water when you are hungry or too full. ③ Please take off the metal ornaments on your body before entering the water; ④ It's better to bring your swimsuits otherwise the purchasable items in the hot winter center may be limited.

Day 2 Mount Emei Sightseeing (B, L)
Highlights of today: Mount Emei, Golden Summit
This morning after breakfast, meet your tour guide and set out for Mount Emei. As one of the few World Heritage Sites of both cultural and natural heritages, Mount Emei is an enchanted combination of lush forest and cultural relics. It is one of the Four Great Buddhist Mountains in China, also the home to 5000 kinds of plants (more than the total plants of Europe) and over 2300 kinds of wild animals.
You will first take your private car to the tourist center, then shift on to an Eco-Bus which will take you up to the mountain top area in 1.5~2 hours. Once you reaching at Leidongping (2400m), keep on walking about 30mins along a mountain pass to the cable car station, along which you will have chance to see the wild monkeys. Take a cable car (about 5mins) up to the Golden Summit (3077m) which is the biggest highlight and very essence of Mount Emei. Once you get to the Golden Summit, the first view appearing in front of you is a towering multi-faced golden statue (48m) of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva. Next to the golden statue sits the bronze Huangzang Temple which is the first temple established on Mount Emei whose history can be traced back to 1st century CE. You can stroll around the Golden Summit to explore Buddhist architecture and tradition, and enjoy panoramic view of Mount Emei and surrounding. In clear days, you can even see the snow-clad of Mount Gongga (7556m), Asia’s largest table mountain - Wawu Mountain and winding rivers flowing through Emeishan city. If weather permits, you will have luck to enjoy its magnificent wonder of Cloud Sea.
Sightsee around 1.5 hours on the Golden Summit area, then descend by cable car to Leidoping to check in your hotel. Have a good rest for tomorrow's skiing tour.
Winter travel tips: ① Please put your steps very carefully, and it's better to wear hiking shoes, crampons and use alpenstocks to keep balance because some paths may be very slippery after snow. ② It's recommended to take layers like a down jacket, hat, scarf, and gloves, for the temperature is very low in the early morning and nighttime.
Day 3 Mount Emei Departure (B, L)
Highlights of today: Emeishan Ski Resort
After breakfast, you will enjoy your skiing time in Mount Emei Ski Resort. As Sichuan’s first ski resort built in 1998, it is well-known for its surrounding natural beauty and well-equipped facilities. There are different areas designed for different skier’s needs, including skiing training area, some skiing and skateboard pistes (separated based on skiing levels), playing area and snow sculptures area for children. Just immerse yourself in the happy atmosphere and start your wonderful skiing experience. If you want more exciting experience, you can rent snowmobile, snow hovercraft and some other snowball-fighting equipment from the rental stores to help you play with snow to your full. (Important note: The cost of skiing and other winter activities are not covered in our package. You can choose the skiing plan according to your interest after arrival.)
After the enjoyable snow fun in Emeishan Ski Resort, you will take an Eco-bus to descent the mountain, then transfer to return to Chengdu or to catch your flight/train to next destination.

Thanks! I had a weekend away to Xi’an, China to celebrate my birthday. It was an exciting weekend and it was certainly something off the beaten trail for most of my friends. The itinerary you have suggested provided good coverage of the city’s rich history. From the fascinating Terracotta Army to the City Walls to the sacred Mount Hua, to the Muslim Quarter to the Drum & Bell Towers, there’s an interesting story from every historical era in Xi’an. I managed to hike up Mount Hua from North Peak to West Peak, but I didn’t get to do the dangerous plank walk as it was closed.
The hotel Eastern House was very accessible too with food places within steps and its proximity to the Drum Tower is a plus. The room was very clean and comfortable.
At this point, I have to quickly mention our amazing tour guide Betty Jiao Yan who was assigned to us as part of our private tour package. She made our time feel so very special and I wonder if Xi'an would have been as awesome without her. She had such a positive and caring nature and when we had to say goodbye, we felt very sad. It was strange to miss a guide after only knowing her for 5 days! Luckily we still keep in touch on WeChat. Our driver Mr Ma was very polite, punctual and accommodating, making our travel a pleasant experience
