Zhangjiajie Transportation - Getting to Zhangjiajie by Air, Train

Transportation: Zhangjiajie Railway Station is located in the downtown area. It is about 6 kilometers to Tianmen Mountain (about 15 minutes by driving) and about 29 kilometers to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park (about 40-50 minutes by driving).

Travel around Zhangjiajie by high speed trains:

● Zhangjiajie to Fenghuang Ancient Town: Fenghuang Ancient Town is the no. 2 recommended places to visit in Hunan Province. There are about 10 high speed trains transferring between Zhangjiajie and Fenghuang now. It costs only about 1 hour to transfer between two places, only about 1/5 of driving time. ● Changsha to Zhangjiajie: There are over 35 trains running from Changsha to Zhangjiajie each day. Most of them are high speed trains. The fastest one takes less 2 hours to reach Zhangjiajie. It's strongly recommended to travel Changsha with Zhangjiajie now. Changsha to Zhangjiajie

● Yichang to Zhangjiajie: For travelers who have taken Yangtze River downstream cruise from Chongqing to Yichang, they usually choose to take a train to Zhangjiajie. Yichang to Zhangjiajie

● Zhangjiajie to Tongren (铜仁): For travelers who want to combine Mount Fanjing with Zhangjiajie, they can take a train from Zhangjiajie to Fenghuang first, then go to Tongren where Mount Fanjing located by bus.

Changsha is served as the transfer city to Zhangjiajie. It is located in the southeast of Zhangjiajie in Hunan province. The distance between each other is 321 kilometers away. Travelers can get to Zhangjiajie from Changsha by air, train, and long distance bus.

By Train

Nowadays, there are more than 15 high speed trains running from Changsha Railway Station to Zhangjiajie West Railway Station everyday from 7:00 to 19:50. The whole journey only takes about 2.5 ~ 3.5 hours. Besides, travelers can take normal trains from Changsha to Zhangjiajie. There are 7 trains every day, taking around 4.5 hours to 5.5 hours.

By Air

There were once several daily nonstop flights between Changsha Huanghua International Airport and Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport. However, due to the increased frequency of high-speed trains, the number of flights has been reduced and they may be subject to cancellation during off-peak seasons. We highly recommend considering the high-speed train option for a more reliable and stable travel experience.

By Coach

There are lots of coaches running from Changsha to Zhangjiajie. You can go from Changsha West Bus Station, Changzhutan Bus Station, Changsha East Bus Station, Changsha Railway Station, Changsha Huanghua International Airport to different areas of Zhangjiajie such as Zhangjiajie Central Bus Station, Tianmen Mountain cableway, Yellow Dragon Cave.

Beijing is capital of China served as the gateway city to China. It is situated in the north China in the northeast of Zhangjiajie, about 1567 kilometers away. Travelers can get from Beijing to Zhangjiajie by air and train. The most convenient way is by air.

By Air

There is only one direct flight from Beijing to Zhangjiajie. If you cannot get a direct flight, you can first transfer to Changsha and then get to Zhangjiajie from Changsha by air, train or long distance bus.

By Train

If you fail to book a flight from Beijing to Zhangjiajie, taking a high speed train is a good alternative. Beijing West Railway Station operates one daily high speed train to Zhangjiajie West Railway Station and the whole train trip takes about 10.5 hours. There are also three K trains running from Beijing Railway Station or Beijing West Railway Station to Zhangjiajie Railway Station, which take 23 ~ 26.5 hours. For the long time on the train, you are not recommended to take train.

“East or west, Guilin landscape is the best”. Similar to Zhangjiajie, Guilin is the gorgeous scenic destination worth your time to spend 3 to 4 days. Some travelers who are obsessed with natural scenery, you want to put Guilin and Zhangjiajie in one trip. Guilin is at the south of Zhangjiajie City in Guangxi Province, about 600 kilometers away.

By Train

Taking a high speed train is the best way to travel from Guilin to Zhangjiajie. There is one daily high speed train available. You can board the train at Guilin Railway tation or Guilin North Railway Station, and reches Zhangjiajei West Railway Station. The whole train trip takes about 7.5 hours. If you fail to book the high speed train, you can make a transfer in Liuzhou or Changsha.

Chengdu is the “Hometown of Giant Pandas” located in Sichuan Province in western China. It is in the northwest of Zhangjiajie, about 877 kilometers in between. Many travelers choose to visit Zhangjiajie after Chengdu tours. Limited flights are connected Chengdu with Zhangjiajie. No direct train is served between.

By Air

Direct flights are available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from Chengdu to Zhangjiajie. It takes off at afternoon from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport to Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport. It needs 1.5 hours in total. You’d better check the flights condition before arrange Chengdu Zhangjiajie tour. Or you can transit to Changsha first and then to Zhangjiajie.

By Train

There is also one bullet train per day available, which takes about 7.5 hours in total.

Guangzhou is located in Guangdong Province at the southeast of Zhangjiajie, about 955 kilometers away. Both Flights and trains are available between Guangzhou and Zhangjiajie. Flight is more convenient than train.

By Air

There are two flights from Guangzhou to Zhangjiajie every day. One is the morning and one is at night. It takes 1 hour and 40 minutes.

By Train

No high speed train is provided at present. There are four K trains running between. If go by train, you should go from Guangzhou Railway Station to Zhangjiajie Railway Station, taking 13.5 hours to 15 hours in total.

Zhangjiajie is an incredible place with absolutely beautiful landscape under heaven. Travelers usually spend 3 to 5 days in and around Zhangjiajie. There is no doubt that Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is the highlight of all the stunning attractions which needs to spend 2 days inside.
